When it comes to Nestle coffee, many people can't help but think of its brands Nestle milk powder and Nescafé coffee, and know that this company with a history of more than 140 years is based on food.

Besides, from history of Nestlé can easily find that Nestlé, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, has lasted a century of wind and rain, owning more than 2,000 global or regional brands, with great merger and acquisition business.

In 1873, Nestle products have been sold in the Americas, Australia, Russia, India and European countries. The high reputation makes Nestlé more willing to devote more energy to the international market.

Thirty-two years later, Nestlé has partnered with top rival Anglo-Swiss Condensed Milk Company, and has begun to build a sales network across Africa, Asia, Latin America and Australia through overseas subsidiaries. When World War I broke out, demand for condensed milk and chocolate increased, and Nestlé seized the opportunity to expand production, acquiring processing plants in the United States and Australia. Until the end of the war, the number of factories owned by Nestlé had changed from 20 to 40. During this period, Nestlé launched products such as chocolate, sugar-free condensed milk, sterilized milk, and milk powder.

Subsequently, Nestlé launched a variety of products to meet the needs of consumers in order to achieve economies of scale and reduce transaction costs, while complying with the requirements of the times and technological changes, and quickly occupied the market.

From World War I to World War II, the military and individual demand for bottled milk began to decline. Nestlé carried out professional management of talents, strengthened R&D research, and launched pioneering products such as whole milk powder, white chocolate, and Nescafé coffee.

After World War II, the demand for convenience food rose, and Nestlé continued to expand its product range by acquiring condiment companies, canned food companies, yogurt manufacturers, and chocolate companies, and launched chocolate drinks, instant food, rice noodles, dumplings and other products. Among them, Nestle instant coffee launched in 1938 brought huge profits to Nestle. During this period, Nestlé has established a long-term goal of global development, and has taken a series of investments and mergers and acquisitions for this purpose.

In 1947, Nestlé bought the Swiss company Maggi, doubling the company's sales. In 1960, Nestlé acquired Jopa in Germany and Crosse, a canning company in the UK, respectively.

Between 1985 and 2000, Nestlé spent about $26 billion buying or merging other companies. Among them, in 1985, it acquired Carnarson Company, in 1988, it acquired Rowntree in the United Kingdom, in 1992, it acquired Perrier, a French mineral water manufacturer, and in 1997, it acquired San Pellegrino Mineral Water Company. During this period, the largest ice cream makers in Spain, Australia and Canada were also brought under Nestlé. It was clear that Nestlé had become the largest food and beverage company in the world at the time.

Even so, Nestlé has not stopped its expansion. In 2001, it merged with Purina, a famous American pet food company, for $10.3 billion, making it the second largest pet food manufacturer in the world. In the same year, Nestlé also bought US Chefs, known for its quick-frozen convenience foods, for $2.6 billion. In terms of ice cream, in order to compete with rival Unilever, Nestlé chose to acquire ice cream-related companies as the best way to rapidly improve its competitiveness. In 2002 and 2003, Nestlé purchased partners Haagen Dazs, Schoellers and Dreyers. This approach of Nestle quickly rewrote the situation of "Nestle", "Dreyer" and "Unilever". After the acquisition of Dreyer, Nestlé's market share increased to 60%. In 2005, Nestlé bought Greek ice cream maker Delta Ice Cream at a high price. In 2006, Nestle acquired weight loss company Jenny Craig Inc and Australian nutritional fast food company Uncle Tobys snacks at a high price. In 2007, Nestle spent a lot of money on the acquisition of Gerber baby food company, thus establishing its status as the world's largest baby food producer. Since then, 70% of Yunnan Dashan, 60% of Yinlu, 60% of Hsu Fu Chi... 100 years of investment and expansion have made Nestlé a "big brother" in the global food industry. Today, Nestlé's business items cover beverages, condiments, pet food, dairy products, chocolate and whole milk powder, white chocolate, Nescafé coffee, etc.
